The move to USB has started
Different deployments of commercial products based on CI Plus 2.0 (TVs and CAMs) have recently become a reality in several countries and even outside of the historical traditional European footprint where the old PCMCIA CAM has been deployed during the last few decades. The natural move to USB has finally started.
These markets’ introductions require to get test materials to verify and control the various implementations. Hence, Twise, as a market leader for CI Plus 2.0 CAM, has been contacted by some TV manufacturers to provide such a Testing Kit.
A testing kit to secure your implementation
Twise Testing Kit (TTK) is composed of USB CAMs, smartcards, and live recorded streams encrypted by different CAS systems.
Some implementations of dedicated CI Plus 2.0 features always require paying specific attention for its implementation.
“For the TV manufacturers, the availability of material is key, as their development centers are located far away from the signal and the materials and on multiple sides.” said Xavier Teil, Twise co-founder.
Among others, the TTK covers the most classical technical field use cases such as:
- Operator Profile,
- Parental Control Management
- CAS descrambling
- Configuration of different ROT and certificates selection
- CI Plus re scrambling (CCK key)
- URI settings
- Etc.
Moreover, the Twise Testing Kit enables CAM menu configuration for various settings such as URI values representing all the possible field settings. The USB CAMs can be updated by OTA SSU if needed.
Of course, support and maintenance will be provided by Twise.
The experience from past developments has been collected and aggregated in one unique kit dedicated to the USB CI Plus 2.0 implementation targeting not only TV manufacturers but also chipsets providers or STB manufacturers.
